• light toast, for sweet flavors, produces a very slight colour change in the spirit.
• medium toast, for good vanilla and some toasty smoke flavors, gives light amber colour to spirit.
• dark toast, for good vanilla, strong toasty smoke flavors and deep colour from caramelised sugars in the wood, producing a deep amber glow.
